​About Shantell

Shantell grew up in sunny Brisbane, Australia, where she lives with her family—one husband, two children, two cats and a lizard. Her days are divided between being a spouse, a mother of a neurodiverse family, writing, a rewarding career as a counsellor for children and young people affected by domestic and family abuse, and studying to attain a Master’s of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Their love of fantasy began in high school when they discovered the fantasy section in the school library, and she’s had a book in her hand ever since. The tabletop games came years later when she attended a session with her boyfriend (now husband), claiming it was “too geeky” to play, but she would watch—she had her first character rolled up by the end of the day.

Shantell enjoys bonding with family over a good movie night, either at home on the couch or in the cinema, and spends most weekends with friends and family playing Dungeons & Dragons or the occasional video game.
